Supersport ‘Follow Ya Mouth’ is a Pidgin-English commentator search that was recently launched with the aim to discover passionate individuals who tend to have the ability to run football match commentaries in Pidgin-English language.
Talents from the Garden City and neighbouring States were hosted Supersport TV audition train. The audition train consist of judges; the likes of veteran Sports-caster Deji Omotoyinbo, Radio On-air Personality Tega Onojaefe and popular Pidgin-English Newscaster, Chinedu Ani who were on hand to critique and select the finest talents as they participated in the quest.
Some of the contestants that tried out, Kayode Ojo, a final year Linguistics and Communication student of University of Portharcourt stated that “Follow Ya Mouth is a challenging yet exciting experience that has stimulated my communication intuition for the Pidgin-English language”.
Six talents were selected after the two day exercise. “I am so delighted to have qualified from Portharcourt and I promise to give my best at the finals in Lagos.” says Jombo Oyinkuro one of the Portharcourt finalist from Bayelsa State.
Remember, the six finalists selected from the Portharcourt auditions will join their Lagos audition counterparts to spend time in the house where they shall be groomed and tested ahead of the grand finale where the best amongst all will be picked as the official Supersport Pidgin-English commentator.
Supersport West Africa Marketing Manager, Chidozie Bede-Nwokoye asserted that “Port Harcourt auditions have confirmed our belief that commentary in Pidgin English will generate another level of interest for the Nigerian local football league, a major drive of SuperSport”
However, chances are still open for more talents to try out at the Lagos auditions slated for 6th and 7th of September, 2013 at Hall 2, National Arts Theatre Iganmu, Lagos.
