Lagos Inter-Clubs: Casual worker wins silver in Darts

risikat_yekiniA cleaner with the Lagos State Sports Council, Mrs. Risikat Yekini, tried her luck and mother luck smiled on her as she won a silver medal in the Ladies Singles Mixed game at the Lagos State Inter-Clubs Darts Competition held at the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Sports Hall, Rowe Park, Yaba.

Mrs. Yekini, who on her road to the final defeated three other players, was stopped in the final by hard-fighting Esther Lasoju of Rowe Park Darts Club in the final which ended 2-0.

The 39-year-old cleaner, who started playing darts three years ago said after she was decorated with her silver medal that “I am so happy achieving this feat because nobody gave a cleaner like me any chance. My target now is to work harder to get a chance to represent Lagos in next year’s National Sports Festival,” she said.

In the men’s singles, Emeka Egbuleze, defeated Famakin Pius. In the men’s singles mixed games, Egbuleze also defeated Bisiriyu to win another gold medal.

In Basketball Grassroots Championship, Zion Basketball Academy won the competition after they beat Rookies Basketball Academy 41-25 points in the men category, while the female category was won by Hope 4 Girls Basketball Academy who defeated Police Rookies Basketball Academy 17-15 points.

Head Coach of Rookies Basketball Academy, Joseph Patrick, was disappointed that two of his players failed to leave up to expectation which resulted into that loss in the final.

Meanwhile, wrestling inter-clubs competition ended with Team Lagos’s gold medalist, Esther Ayodele winning a gold medal in free style 61kg female category after defeating Bilikisu Dauda Mausi Eric of Jesus Wrestling Club defeated Enitan Folohunso in 46kg.

Fausa Ajashe of Warrior Wrestling Club thrashed Anu Alawode of T Gold Wrestling Club in the 38kg, Toyin Amode humbled Ibiyeye Oluwabukola in the 60kg.

In male category, Ajibola Adeniran defeated Peter Obasi from T Gold Wrestling Clubs in the 46kg,Taiwo Isaac also defeated Kehinde Isaac in the 42kg, while Julius Adekunle also came out victorious against Tanwell Emmanuel in the 54kg.
