Okpodu dumps Warri Wolves over poor pay

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Warri Wolves, have ended their relationship with their head coach, Sam Okpodu.
It was revealed that Okpodu and Wolves went their different ways following financial disagreement over the former’s personal terms including monthly salary.
Okpodu, who was only given the head coach role following the departure of Paul Aigbogun to Enyimba, was said to have turned down the monthly salary offered him, explaining to the club owner that it was far below his expectation.

Wolves have already contacted Englishman, Peter John Farrell, to take his place.

The former Bolton Wanderers assistant academy director is expected to earn at least four times more than the amount offered Okpodu.

General Manager of Wolves, Edema Fuludu, has also left the club for similar financial disagreement after he was offered far less than Okpodu.

The Warri club is competing in three fronts – the NPFL, the Federation Cup and the CAF Champions League – this season.

Wolves have already booked their passage into the first round of the Champions League against Sudanese champions, El-Merreikh and will begin their NPFL campaign at Heartland this Sunday.
