No fewer than nine villagers were killed on Wednesday night in Kushaka, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State by suspected herdsmen.

Several others were injured.

One of those who survived the attack said the herdsmen were masked.

“They were masked and armed with bows, arrow, cutlasses and guns. Some of those killed were hacked while others escaped with injury.

“Everybody was asleep when they announced their arrival with heavy shootings. Some of the villagers escaped into the bush but some children were not so lucky as they fell to the fire power of the invaders.

Niger State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Richard Adamu Oguche, and the Chairman of Shiroro Local Government, confirmed the incident.
