kayode_akinmadeALL the 18 commissioner-nominees, whose names were sent by Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State to the House of Assembly, were on Thursday confirmed by the lawmakers.

The commissioners are Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Mr Kayode Akinmade, Chief Clement Faboyede, Mr Remi Olatubora, Mr Gboye Adegbenro, Mr Deji Falae, Chief Sola Ebiseeni, Mr Akin Adaramola, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, Chief Yele Ogundipe, Mr Bekehimi Idhiari and Dr Bade Omoloja.

New faces in the state exco included Mrs Yemi Mamuud, Mr Bamiduro Dada, Mr Tunde Atere and Jide Olujuyigbe.

Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Samuel Adesina, who presented the report of the select committee of the House at a plenary session said all the nominees passed the rigorous screening of the Assembly.

He said they merited the confidence reposed on them by the governor and the members of the public. He asked them not betray the confidence reposed on them.

Three lawmakers from each of the senatorial districts of the state presented the nominees and asked their colleagues to confirm them.

However, the lawmakers representing Odigbo and Okitipupa asked the governor to appoint more commissioners so that their local governments would have representatives at the cabinet.

Mrs. Jumoke Akindele said Okitipupa should have a representation at the cabinet, considering its size and population. She said this would be the first time in recent time that the local government would not be represented in the state exco.

Adesina promised that the Assembly would appeal to the governor to give both Odigbo and Okitipupa local governments commissioner-nominees.
