I have taken profound risks in my career, says Mimiko

olusegun_mimiko2Gov. Ousegun Mimiko of Ondo State, says he has taken numerous risks in the course of his political career spanning over 30 years, purposely to serve the people.

Mimiko stated this on Sunday at a thanksgiving service held at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Akure, to commemorate his victory at the Supreme Court. The Court had on Aug. 29 upheld his election as the governor of the state.

The governor read the only lesson, Psalm 40, at the service which was attended by top government functionaries and his political associates.

Mimiko said that the numerous risks he had undertaken in the course of his political career were profound and solely motivated by his determination to serve the people of the state and not for selfish interest.

He noted that God had been sufficient for him throughout the period, adding, “there are moments of anxiety but God was kind to me all through”.

While thanking the people for their confidence in his administration, Mimiko assured them of more benefits in the next four years.

“The God that we serve is enough; he is a sufficient God. I can testify before you that in the course of my career, God has been sufficient for me.

“I have taken risks that are profound, as you all know. I also want to make it absolutely clear that there are moments of anxiety, but our God is sufficient for us,’’ he said.

In his sermon, Pastor Waleola Akinfiresoye, urged the governor to allow his lifestyle to inspire the people of the state.

“Particularly, members of your cabinet, so that the people will appreciate God the more at the end of your administration,’’ the pastor said.
