The United Arab Emirates has confirmed plans to withdraw from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and the broader OPEC+ coalition, with the decision set to take effect from May 1, 2026.

The announcement was reported by Dubai-based media, citing official sources.

Officials said the move aligns with the UAE’s long-term economic and energy strategy, which focuses on expanding its production capacity and diversifying its energy portfolio.

The decision follows a detailed assessment of the country’s current output levels and future energy goals.

According to reports, the UAE intends to prioritise its national economic interests while maintaining flexibility in responding to global energy demand.

The country aims to adjust production levels based on market conditions rather than collective quotas.

Despite exiting OPEC and OPEC+, the UAE emphasized that it will remain a dependable energy supplier to the global market.

Authorities stated that additional oil production would be introduced gradually, in line with international demand and supply trends

The government reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment in: Oil and gas production,  Renewable energy projects,  Low-carbon and sustainable energy solutions.

Officials also highlighted plans to collaborate with international partners to ensure a stable global energy supply.
