Turkish Airlines and Nigeria’s leading carrier, Air Peace, have entered into a strategic interline agreement aimed at improving travel connectivity between Nigeria, Africa, and major international destinations.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued in Lagos by Air Peace spokesperson, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, who said the partnership is designed to simplify international travel for passengers.
According to him, the agreement allows travellers to book single-ticket journeys, enjoy better-coordinated flight schedules, and benefit from seamless baggage transfers across both airlines
He explained that the arrangement covers selected routes and itineraries, ensuring smoother connections for passengers travelling across multiple destinations
Under the deal, passengers flying with Turkish Airlines into Lagos will be able to connect easily to Air Peace’s domestic and regional routes within Nigeria and across West Africa.
Similarly, Air Peace customers can now access Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network through Istanbul, connecting to destinations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
Osifo-Whiskey noted that the partnership is expected to strengthen air travel links between Nigeria and Türkiye, while also promoting trade, tourism, and economic cooperation across the region.
Speaking on the agreement, Dr Özlem Özyön, Senior Vice-President for International Relations and Alliances at Turkish Airlines, said the collaboration reflects the airline’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Africa.
She added that combining Turkish Airlines’ global reach with Air Peace’s regional network would provide travellers with more flexibility and convenience.
Also commenting, Air Peace Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, described the partnership as a significant step toward positioning Nigeria as a major aviation hub.
He said the integration of both airlines’ networks would reduce travel complexities and improve access to global destinations for Nigerian passengers.
Ngala further highlighted Turkish Airlines’ operations on the Lagos route, noting its use of modern wide-body aircraft equipped with premium onboard services, advanced entertainment systems, and award-winning catering.
He added that Air Peace, with a growing fleet of over 50 aircraft, including Boeing 777s, Boeing 737s, and Embraer jets, continues to expand its operations and influence in Africa’s aviation industry.
