The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari, believes strongly that the Flying Eagles of Nigeria tutored by John Obuh will perform excellently in the 2013 Under-20 World Cup slated for Turkey in June.
Maigari’s optimism was hinged on the fact that, the team have been taken through well-tailored preparations good enough to help them challenge for the cup.
“This is a good start. I am impressed but we must work harder because we are going to the World Cup.”
He said expectations are high because the glory days are back for Nigeria after the Super Eagles won the African Nations Cup title in South Africa in February.
“We have ensured that you prepare very well here in Germany and France. We will fully support you to achieve your target at the World Cup in Turkey.
“The coach has promised us the World Cup and you are in a good position to be world champions.” Maigari said.
The Flying Eagles will face Portugal, Korea Republic and Cuba in the opening rounds of the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
Nigeria’s Under-20 team, the Flying Eagles, have stepped up preparations for the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup which begins in Turkey in June.
The Flying Eagles drew 1-1 with Nuremberg Under-23 team in a test game on Wednesday as part of their build-up to next month’s Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
Meanwhile, the team will also compete at the prestigious Toulon international tournament which begins on May 28.
The Flying Eagles are in group B of the tournament alongside Brazil, Portugal and the defending champions, Mexico.
