olusola_okeGovernorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election in Ondo state, Chief Olusola Oke has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for declaring a state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Kunle Adebayo, Chief Oke said Jonathan took the best decision any responsible leader should take given the current circumstances.

He said the spate of insecurity leading to mindless murder of security personnel and innocent citizens by the Boko Haram sect is a source of worry to all Nigerians.

Oke urged leaders from the northern part of the country to exercise restraint in their comments and not subject the decision of Jonathan to tribal or ethnic sentiments.

The statement further asked all Nigerians and the international community to support the President in managing the security challenges in the states as well as the entire nation.

“The president has acted as a strong leader. The deployment of troops in the troubled states without sacking the democratic structures is a clear evidence that Mr President believes in strengthening the institution of democracy, it also shows that he is firmly in charge of the security situation in the country,” he said.

Oke, who commended the Natonal Assembly for expeditiously ratifying the President’s decision, also urged the Governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states to mobilise all the structures at their disposal to ensure that the laudable objectives of the state of emergency are achieved.
