Sports broadcasting in Africa has received a major boost as SportyTV has officially been added to selected DStv and GOtv packages across Nigeria and other African markets.

The development was confirmed by David Mignot, CEO of MultiChoice CANAL+ Africa, marking a strategic expansion of sports content offerings for subscribers

SportyTV, a 24-hour sports channel, will provide live coverage, sports analysis, highlights, and breaking updates across multiple sporting disciplines.

According to MultiChoice CANAL+ Africa, the channel is now available on DStv Yanga, DStv Access, and GOtv Jolli, as well as selected packages in Kenya and Ghana.

The addition is designed to increase affordable access to premium sports content across Africa.

Mignot explained that the inclusion of SportyTV enhances existing sports programming on DStv and GOtv platforms.

He noted that the channel expands coverage of football, basketball, and combat sports, giving subscribers more viewing options at accessible price points.

“SportyTV is a valuable addition to our sports content lineup across Africa,” he said.

“It strengthens our commitment to delivering quality sports entertainment to our customers.”

Sudeep Ramnani, Founder and CEO of Sporty Group, said the partnership aims to extend sports storytelling and live coverage to more African households.

He said SportyTV complements existing sports platforms while widening access to global and local sporting events.

Ramnani added that the collaboration aligns with the company’s mission to improve sports accessibility across the continent.

The channel will broadcast top football competitions including the English Premier League, Carabao Cup, EFL Championship, and Women’s FA Cup.

It will also feature European leagues such as La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A, along with South American tournaments including the Copa Libertadores.

Basketball coverage will include NBA programming, alongside other international sporting events.

SportyTV will also offer dedicated club channels including Real Madrid TV, Arsenal TV, Chelsea TV, and Manchester City TV.

Other content includes coverage of leagues in Greece and Saudi Arabia, further diversifying its global sports portfolio.

In Nigeria, SportyTV is now available in HD on DStv channel 236 and GOtv channel 58, making it accessible to millions of sports fans.

Industry stakeholders say the addition strengthens Africa’s sports broadcasting ecosystem and increases competition in pay-TV sports content delivery.
