Resident doctors give Oyo Govt two-week ultimatum over unpaid salaries

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have given the Oyo State Government two weeks ultimatum to pay the five months unpaid salaries of its members at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LTH), Ogbomoso.
Addressing newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, President of the association, Dr Dan-Jumbo Prince, said that failure of the state government to settle the arrears and meet other demands would culminate into an industrial action.
According to Prince, the other demands included the establishment of a proper hospital management board for LTH, maintenance of the hospital infrastructures and renewed commitment to improved working condition of staff.
He explained that their members have not collected salary since January despite their commitment to duty.
The association also noted that the hospital could not also achieve its goals in training of resident doctors in view of the neglect it suffered from successive administrations.
“All is as a result of lack of commitment and fairness on the part of the state government, non-existent of hospital board for a teaching hospital with an edict establishing it, likewise the menace of apathetic and passive management.
“We are forced to believe based on the disposition that Oyo State Government is deliberately and systematically killing LTH, Ogbomoso,” Prince said.
The association appealed to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, well-meaning citizens and human right organisations to intervene to ensure uninterrupted healthcare delivery to the citizens.
