The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) has announced that it would cut electricity supply to parts of Akwa Ibom between June 5 and June 12 for upgrade of facilities.
This is contained in a statement by the company’s Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr Jonah Iboma, in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The statement quoted Iboma as saying that the outage was to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to improve its national transmission system.
“TCN will be embarking on construction and stringing of new 330kv transmission lines from Thursday, June 5, to Friday, June 12, as part of efforts to boost electricity supply nationwide.

“Areas to be affected include Ikot-Ekpene senatorial zone, Ewet Housing Estate, University of Uyo, Iwaniba, Osomah Estate and Shelter Afrique Housing Estate, among others.

“The new transmission line, when operational will boost power supply – thus creating opportunities for better socio-economic development of the state,” the statement read in part.

It solicited for customers’ understanding and patience during the period.
PHED distributes electricity to Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and Rivers states.
