Police Reform: IGP Deploys Newly Promoted AIGs, CPs Across Nigeria

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu has ordered the immediate posting of newly promoted senior officers to various commands and departments across the country.

The directive, announced by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Pascid, is part of efforts to strengthen leadership and enhance operational effectiveness within the Nigeria Police Force

According to Pascid, the deployment involves several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs)and Commissioners of Police (CPs) assigned to critical positions to improve policing and service delivery nationwide.

Among the AIGs affected are officers posted to departments such as Operations, Training and Development, Armament, Research and Planning, as well as zonal commands in Maiduguri, Makurdi, Katsina, and Lagos

The redeployment also covers numerous CPs assigned to state commands, including Jigawa, Oyo, Delta, Ogun, Ekiti, Lagos, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Other senior officers have been posted to specialised units such as INTERPOL, SWAT, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Special Protection Unit and the Police Academy (POLAC)

The police leadership noted that the move is aimed at repositioning the force for better performance and more effective response to security challenges.

The IGP urged the affected officers to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and dedication in their new assignments.

He also encouraged them to apply their experience to improve policing standards and strengthen public confidence in law enforcement across Nigeria.
