Pillars storm Akure for Sunshine Stars

kano_pillarsIn what could be termed the star match of the week, league leaders, Kano Pillars are up against Sunshine Stars FC of Akure in a Globacom Premier League Week 26 match billed for the Akure Township Stadium.

Pillars are currently on top of the log but their leadership is not that comfortable as they are being put on their toes by Bayelsa United and Kwara United, hence their determination to get valuable points away from home.

To get this done, the Pyramid City boys must stop Sunshine Stars from securing the maximum points in tomorrow’s match.

However, going by the recent form of the ‘Akure Gunners’ on their home soil, Pillars’ hope of returning to Kano may end up as a mere dream.

The Team Manager of Sunshine Stars, Rasheed Balogun said ahead of the match, that, the visitors should forget about picking a point, not to talk of winning.

”We cannot toy with our chances of catching up with the frontrunners. I am not thinking about dropping any point at home, my mindset is focused towards winning away games,” declared the ex-Julius Berger Team Manager.

Nigerian soccer fans are surely in for a an interesting match considering the pedigree of both sides and the rivalry that has existed between them in the past few seasons.
