The  All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to deliver transparent and people-focused governance if elected in the upcoming August 15 election,

Oyebamiji, widely known as AMBO, made the commitment during a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi,  at his palace in Ile-Ife.

The visit, according to his media aide Dr. Olawale Tijani, was aimed at seeking royal blessings ahead of the official launch of his campaign.

Speaking during the meeting, Oyebamiji emphasised the cultural and historical importance of Ile-Ife, describing it as the spiritual origin of the Yoruba people.

He expressed appreciation to the monarch for his role in promoting unity and preserving Yoruba heritage.

“We have come to seek your blessings as we prepare for the journey ahead. I am committed to serving the people faithfully and advancing development in Osun State,” he said.

Oyebamiji revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had encouraged him to seek traditional support before beginning his campaign.

He noted that past leaders, including Chief Obafemi Awolowo, benefited from similar gestures rooted in tradition and heritage.

The APC candidate assured residents that his administration, if elected, would focus on development, accountability, and improving living standards across the state.

In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife commended Oyebamiji for demonstrating humility and respect for traditional institutions.

The monarch described such qualities as vital for effective leadership and national development.

Oba Ogunwusi also urged political leaders to prioritise unity, reconciliation, and peaceful engagement, especially during election periods.

He stressed that traditional rulers must remain neutral and serve as unifying figures across political divides.

“Leadership requires sacrifice and a commitment to the common good. Political differences should be resolved through dialogue,” the Ooni advised.

The monarch offered prayers for Oyebamiji, wishing him wisdom and guidance as he prepares for the election.

The APC candidate was accompanied by his running mate, Kayode Adereti, Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal,  and other party stakeholders.
