mimikoTo maintain their beauty and sacredness, the Ondo State government has stopped the construction of shops and other structures around palaces of traditional rulers.

Commissioner for Environment, Chief Sola Ebiseeni, said the action was to ensure that the premises of palaces were not desecrated.

Ebiseeni spoke in Two, Owo Local Government where he had gone to monitor the monthly environmental sanitation.

He said it was sad that shanties are being constructed under the guise of building shopping complexes around palaces.

The commissioner said such construction would be demolished as the government has already provided markets around palaces in the state.

In his reaction, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi, appealed to the state government to make adequate provision of waste disposal materials to the town and villages in Owo to ensure cleanliness of the communities.
