Ondo State House of Assembly on Wednesday approved the extension of the tenure of the caretaker committees of the 18 local governments in the state for six months.
Speaker of the assembly, Jumoke Akindele, announced the approval after members voted in favour of the request of Governor Olusegun Mimiko for the extension, conveyed through a letter.
The letter was read by the Clerk of the assembly, Mr Bode Adeyelu.
Mr Gbenga Araoyinbo, member representing Akoko North West constituency 2, moved the motion asking members to grant the request.

Mr Olamide George, member representing Akure North constituency, seconded the motion, saying there was no need to over stress the issue since democracy and governance must be sustained.

Similarly, the assembly has invited four commissioner nominees to appear before the Committee on Selection on Tuesday, Dec.1.

Earlier, the clerk read a letter from the governor requesting the assembly to confirm the nomination of Mr Femi Adekanbi, Mr Segun Ayerin, Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju, and Mr Dayo Awude for appointment as commissioners.
