NSE market indices appreciate by 0.29 per cent

Nigeria equity market rises by 0.14% in cautious trading

Transactions at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed on Monday on a positive trend with the market indices improving by 0.29 per cent due to price growth by some blue chip equities.
The market capitalisation rose by N34 billion to close at N11.510 trillion against the N11.476 trillion posted on Friday.
Similarly, the All-Share Index increased by 97.70 points or 0.29 per cent to close at 33,719.45 compared with 33,621.75 achieved on Friday.
Guinness led the gainers’ table, appreciating by N17 to close at N185 per share.
Forte Oil followed with a gain of N4.99 to close at N177.99, while Dangote Cement garnered N1.01 to close at N178 per share.

UAC Property increased by 50k to close at N10.50, while Champion Breweries gained 32k to close at N6.74 per share.

On the other hand, PZ recorded the highest price loss to lead the losers’ chart with N3 to close at N32 per share.

Okomu Oil lost N1.74 to close at N33.16, while International Breweries dipped N1 to close at N19.01 per share.

Berger Paint and Nigerian Breweries declined by 53k and 25k each to close at N10.08 and N150 per share respectively.

Access Bank was the toast of investors, accounting for 113.96 million shares worth N710.923 million traded in 186 deals.

Flour Mills Nigeria sold 16.17 million shares valued N578.46 million traded in 118 deals, while Zenith Bank exchanged 12.26 million shares worth N245.16 million achieved in 387 deals.

GT Bank traded 10.27 million shares valued N274.49 million transacted in 295 deals and FBN Holdings exchanged 9.77 million shares worth N88.02 million traded in 292 deals.

In all, a total of 229.72 million shares valued N4.85 billion were traded by investors in 3,482 deals.

This was against the 243.31 million shares worth N3.79 billion transacted in 3,414 deals on Friday.
