Members of the Nigeria Kung-fu Federation (NKF) Board on Monday in Abuja removed their President and elected a new one to complete the tenure of the present board.
Olusegun Modeyin, a member of the board, told newsmen at the end of the NKF Stakeholders’ Meeting that the board removed the now former president Light Tijani for non-performance.
He added that Adedapo Aderemi had been elected to replace him as the new president of the NKF during the meeting.
“Today, we were able to remove the President of the Nigeria Kung-fu Federation because of his non-performance which has hampered the board’s activities in the past two years.
“To ensure effective performance of the board, we, therefore, removed the president for a new leadership so that we can have a new hand at the helm of affairs at the federation,’’ Modeyin said.
Aderemi is the representative of the South-West Zone on the NKF board.
He is taking over from Tijani, who has been the president of the federation for the past two years.
Aderemi later told newsmen that he felt honoured and humbled by his choice to replace the president.
“The stakeholders of the federation who nominated me as the president have some level of trust in me and believe that I will be able to perform and live up to their expectations. Now we have to draw the road map of our preparations for and participation at the All-Africa Games (AAG) which will start in about two months from now.
“So, we are looking forward to bringing out our best 11 to represent us. We have about 10 gold medals at stake,’’ he said.

The newly-elected NKF president then appealed for support and encouragement from the National Sports Commission (NSC). “We want to passionately appeal to the Sports Commission to give us some encouragement. On our own part, we will do the necessary things.

“We call on the NSC Director-General and the incoming Sports Minister to give us the full support,’’ he said.

Aderemi added that in less than three days the NKF would open camp for its athletes in preparation for the AAG in Congo-Brazzaville.

“We have a good number of potential athletes on ground, and in the next 48 hours or three days, they will start to camp here in the FCT,’’ he said.
Aderemi is the former President of the Nigeria Rugby Federation.
