Nestlé Nigeria has announced a special anniversary promotion offering consumers an additional 50 grammes of Golden Morn cereal at no extra cost when they purchase a 900-gramme pack.
The offer, introduced in November 2026, forms part of activities celebrating Golden Morn’s 40 years in the Nigerian market.
The announcement was made during an anniversary event held on Tuesday, November 3, at Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara manufacturing facility in Ogun State.
Speaking at the event, Omofasa Orhiunu, the company’s Category Manager for Dairy and Golden Morn, said the promotion was designed to recognise Nigerian families who have supported the cereal brand over the past four decades.
Under the arrangement, shoppers purchasing the promotional 900g Golden Morn pack will receive an additional 50g, bringing the total cereal content to 950g.
Orhiunu said Nestlé Nigeria remained committed to improving its products and introducing new varieties to meet changing consumer preferences.
He explained that the company’s long-term goal was to maintain Golden Morn’s place on Nigerian breakfast tables through innovation, product development and continued investment in local production.
Golden Morn Unveils Special Packaging for 40th Anniversary
The anniversary celebration also featured the introduction of a commemorative Golden Morn pack marking the cereal’s four decades in Nigeria.
Since its launch in 1986, Golden Morn has developed into a familiar breakfast product in many Nigerian households.
Nestlé Nigeria said the brand had undergone several improvements over the years, including changes to its nutritional composition, packaging and product varieties.
Agbara Factory Manager Talla Fall highlighted some of these developments, including the introduction of protein-rich formulations, iron and vitamin A fortification, more affordable packaging and Grainsmart.
According to Fall, these improvements reflect the company’s efforts to respond to consumers’ nutritional needs while maintaining accessibility.
Nigerian Farmers Play Key Role in Golden Morn Production
Beyond the anniversary promotion, Nestlé Nigeria used the occasion to highlight the contribution of local agriculture to Golden Morn’s production.
Fall explained that the cereal is manufactured in Nigeria using agricultural ingredients sourced locally, particularly maize and soybeans.
He credited Nigerian farmers, factory employees and other workers across the production chain for helping sustain the brand over the years.
The factory manager said Golden Morn’s continued presence in the market was closely connected to the people involved in cultivating its ingredients and transforming them into finished products.
He also reaffirmed Nestlé Nigeria’s commitment to maintaining food safety, product quality and manufacturing standards.
The company’s emphasis on locally sourced ingredients highlights the relationship between food manufacturing and agricultural production in Nigeria.
Nutritionist Advises Families to Prioritise Balanced Breakfasts
The celebration also provided an opportunity to discuss healthy eating habits, particularly the importance of breakfast.
Abosede Olusolape, a nutritionist and Nestlé Nigeria brand ambassador, encouraged Nigerians to pay greater attention to the nutritional value of their morning meals.
She explained that a balanced breakfast should contain a combination of essential nutrients, including carbohydrates, protein, dietary fibre, vitamins and minerals.
According to Olusolape, several factors prevent individuals and families from eating nutritious breakfasts regularly.
These include demanding work schedules, inadequate meal preparation and a lack of appetite early in the morning.
She recommended planning breakfast meals ahead of time, choosing a variety of foods and developing practical eating routines that families can maintain.
Olusolape also advised against depending entirely on carbohydrate-rich foods, noting that protein and fibre contribute to a more balanced diet.
She explained that whole grains provide dietary fibre, which supports digestion, while protein can help people feel satisfied after eating.
Her message focused on the importance of choosing meals based on nutritional quality rather than simply eating enough to overcome hunger.
Golden Morn Marks Four Decades in Nigeria
Golden Morn’s 40th anniversary represents a milestone for one of Nestlé Nigeria’s longstanding cereal products.
The brand’s development since 1986 has included changes in packaging, nutritional fortification and product formulations intended to serve different consumer needs.
For Nestlé Nigeria, the anniversary promotion is both a celebration of the brand’s history and an opportunity to acknowledge customers who have continued purchasing Golden Morn.
The additional 50g offer is expected to feature on specially marked 900g packs as the company rolls out its November anniversary activities.
