I am a retired deaf citizen in Abeokuta. I and other Nigerians read the news daily, but we see no concrete steps being taken by the President or Vice President on the security crisis plaguing our communities.
This is unprecedented. During the civil war we got radio news daily from the top. Today we have TV, internet, yet silence from Aso Rock.
Mr President, visibility builds trust. When terrorists are captured, let the VP with security chiefs come before the camera and tell Nigerians: “We are working on this problem. We need you with us to root out these undesirable elements”.
Tell our security forces: “You are not resting until we have seen the end of this menace plaguing our communities.”
Nothing builds trust better than leadership leaving the desk to speak directly to the people.
