Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday, thanked God for saving the life of the National Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, from an auto crash which occurred on the busy Abuja/Kaduna Highway.
When news of the accident filtered into the PDP secretariat in Abuja, workers were seen wearing gloomy faces.
About 30 minutes later when it was confirmed that Makarfi and others were unhurt, there was wild jubilation.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, confirmed the incident.
The Ekiti-born politician said a vehicle in which Makarfi and others were travelling in was, in the early hour of the day, involved in a multiple collision with other vehicles along Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
Adeyeye said Makarfi and other people in the vehicle came out unhurt.
He said: “We are happy to report that fortunately, the distinguished senator and all other passengers in his vehicle came out unhurt.
“This is to allay the fears of our party members, teeming supporters and well wishers who heard of the accident and have been making frantic calls as well as those who may stumble on half-baked information.”
