The political upheaval in the Lagos State House of Assembly seems to be over as members of the Assembly and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) have settled for the speakership of Rt Hon Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.

Obasa

They also declared that the era of Mudashiru Obasa “is gone. He is now a former Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly and that is final”.
The decision was reached at the end of a meeting where the idea of a new speaker was suggested, that the Lagos West should automatically produce the new speaker having accepted the removal of Obasa

It was gathered that Members of the Assembly from Lagos West vehemently rejected the advice, insisting that they are resolute and stand firm with the election of Meranda.

Sources disclosed that the GAC members who were looking for a soft landing for the former speaker were surprised when Lagos West members and others rejected the idea of his return as Speaker.

They (Members) equally said NO to the idea of a new speaker, stressing that they are comfortable with Meranda.

Lagos West members met behind closed doors and came out to inform that they are in support of the continuation of Meranda as Speaker.

In the words of a member: “We are okay with our speaker, Rt Hon Mojisola Lasbat Meranda. That’s what we told the meeting. So, that’s where we are and we will not change”.
