The Labour Party (LP) has announced the rescheduling of its previously planned primary elections for May 27 and May 29, consolidating them all to Saturday, May 30.
Ken Asogwa, National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, stated in Abuja that the adjustment affects primaries for all offices, including President, Governor, Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly.
The decision was prompted by a scheduling overlap with two significant national events: the Eid-el Kabir (Eid al-Adha) celebrations on May 27, and the third anniversary of the inauguration of elected public office holders on May 29.
Asogwa explained that the party sought to respect the spiritual significance of the Sallah celebrations and the national importance of the May 29 anniversary, allowing members, aspirants, and supporters to participate fully.
He apologized for any inconvenience the change might cause and thanked party members, aspirants, and stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation.
