The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has inaugurated its own radio station, Clean Beat 91.5FM, aimed at advancing anti-drug campaigns and educating Nigerians on the dangers of substance abuse.
NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, said the station was established to complement enforcement efforts with education, outreach, and public engagement. “Arrests alone cannot end substance abuse. Awareness and education are critical, and radio allows us to speak directly to citizens in homes, markets, and on their daily commutes,” Marwa stated.
The station received approval from President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). International partners and NDLEA staff were also commended for helping bring the initiative to life.
Mr. Cheikh Touré, UNODC Country Representative, praised the initiative as a people-centered approach that strengthens advocacy alongside law enforcement. Similarly, NBC Director-General Charles Ebuebu highlighted the station’s role in youth engagement, social transformation, and behavioral change.
Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), represented at the event by Mr. Bala Musa, emphasized that Clean Beat 91.5FM will serve as a platform to promote positive attitudinal change and public awareness on substance abuse.
Marwa urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to actively engage with the station’s programs, reinforcing NDLEA’s vision for a drug-free society.
