Eminent businessman and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has described Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, as an outstanding citadel of learning.
He made this known during a private visit to the founder and Chancellor of the tertiary institution, Chief Greg Ibe, on Saturday.
Kalu acknowledged the importance of education in national development.
According to the former governor, the Chancellor of the university has demonstrated selflessness and patriotism through the establishment of the tertiary institution.
He said: “Education remains the greatest asset you can give a child. Empowerment of the people through knowledge and skills acquisition is key to national growth and development.
“I sincerely salute the spirit of the chancellor for siting the university in Abia State.
” We are proud that individuals are complementing government efforts in the development of the Nigerian educational sector”.

Kalu used the opportunity to recall his free education scheme during his tenure as governor of Abia State, adding that privileged personalities in Nigeria should emulate Chief Greg’ s passion for human capital development.

The former governor was received by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Juliet Elu, and other top management team of the university.
