The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Olatunji Disu, has extended warm greetings to fathers across Nigeria, acknowledging their vital contributions to family stability, social development, and national progress.

The message was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, to mark the 2026 Father’s Day celebration.

In his goodwill message, the IGP commended fathers for their sacrifices, leadership roles, and commitment to raising responsible children who contribute positively to society.

He noted that fathers play a key role in strengthening moral values such as discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism.

According to him, these values remain essential for building a peaceful and stable nation.

Mr Disu stated that fathers’ daily sacrifices continue to reinforce family structures and contribute significantly to national development.

He added that fathers provide protection, guidance, and emotional support, which collectively help to build a stronger and more cohesive society.

The police chief also paid tribute to officers within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who balance their demanding duties with their responsibilities as fathers.

He acknowledged the long hours and personal sacrifices made by officers who serve the nation while maintaining strong family roles.

“I commend the sacrifices made by officers who often spend long hours away from home,” he said

The IGP wished all fathers across Nigeria “good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment,” describing them as pillars of national stability.

He further urged citizens to appreciate the contributions of fathers to societal growth and development.

Disu reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property across the country.

He also emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen community policing and family-oriented initiatives aimed at improving social cohesion.

According to him, such initiatives are key to promoting stronger values, safer communities, and national unity.
