Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji Thanks Voters After Re-Election Victory

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed appreciation to residents of the state following his re-electio.n victory in Saturday’s governorship poll, describing t,he outcome as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership.

Oyebanji spoke on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared him the winner of the election.

The governor said the massive support he received across the state reflected public approval of his administration’s performance and policy direction.

He described the victory as “humbling and inspiring,” noting that voters had renewed their trust in his leadership.

According to the results, Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes, winning across all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.

Oyebanji said he had reached out to opposition candidates, including Dr Wole Oluyede and Ambassador Dare Bejide, in the spirit of unity and democratic maturity.

He also disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally called to congratulate him on his re-election.

The governor said the gesture was part of efforts to promote peace, inclusiveness, and political sportsmanship in the state.

He noted that the election process was peaceful and significantly different from previous cycles often characterized by tension and violence.

Oyebanji praised the people of Ekiti for demonstrating political maturity, calmness, and respect for democratic values during the exercise.

He also commended the high voter participation and orderly conduct recorded across polling units.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating ongoing development projects across the state.

He pledged to intensify efforts aimed at improving infrastructure, reducing poverty, and expanding economic opportunities for residents.

According to him, his administration will continue implementing programmes designed to uplift vulnerable groups and boost inclusive growth.

Oyebanji thanked key stakeholders, including APC leaders, campaign teams, volunteers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations, labour unions, and persons with disabilities, for their support.

He also acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, election observers, and INEC officials in ensuring a credible electoral process.

The governor further expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Assembly members, fellow governors, his deputy, and family members for their support.

Oyebanji reaffirmed his commitment to delivering stronger governance in his second term, promising to build on existing achievements and deepen development across Ekiti State.
