A litre of petrol was sold in Abuja on Wednesday for N300, worsening the fuel crisis in the nation’s capital.
Fuel scarcity also hit parts of Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states.
In Wuse, Abuja, a motorist, who spoke to Freedom Online, bought 30 litres of the product for N9,000.
Motorists blamed the crisis on the failure of marketers to import fuel because the Federal Government is owing them close to N300 billion.
A motorist, who queued for about two hours at a filling station in Maitama, had to leave out of frustration.
Many filling stations also shut their gates because of non-availability of the product.
Another motorist bought 10 litres for N2,500 in Asokoro.
In Lagos, some parts also witnessed fuel scarcity.
A litre was sold for between N90 and N95.
In Ogun State, a litre was bought for between N95 and N100 in Abeokuta, Akute, Ijebu-Ode, Shagamu and Ota.
In many parts of Oyo State, it dawned on motorists and passengers in the early hours of the day that fuel scarcity had become a reality.
Many motorists and passengers were stranded at filling stations and bus stops in Ibadan, Ogbomoso and Oyo.
This led to a hike in transport fare.
In many of the filling stations, a litre of petrol was sold for between N90 and N110.
Out of frustration, motorists – commercial and private – complained openly.
Many of the filling stations shut their gates “because of shortage of supply from depots,” said one of the attendants.
