Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa (CharlyBoy), has praised the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, describing it as a landmark project and a symbol of renewed hope for Nigeria’s economic transformation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that CharlyBoy shared his impressions in a social media post accompanied by photos and a video from his recent visit to the facility.
He revealed that he toured the 650,000 barrels-per-day Dangote Refinery located at the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos State, alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo and industrialist Aliko Dangote.
According to him, the refinery represents what is possible when vision, determination, and execution come together to drive national development.
“This refinery is not a small project. It feels like a city within a city,” he said, adding that the scale of the facility reflects the power of long-term vision and persistence.
CharlyBoy noted that the infrastructure, pipelines, and operations at the refinery reinforced his belief that a “new Nigeria” is achievable through purposeful leadership and innovation.
“People always talk about what Nigeria does not have, but today I saw what Nigeria can become when ambition meets execution,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the facility has generated employment opportunities and restored public confidence in Nigeria’s industrial capacity.
According to him, the interactions with workers and visitors at the site reflected a strong public desire for hope and tangible progress rather than political promises.
CharlyBoy also commended Aliko Dangote, founder and president of the Dangote Group, for delivering what he described as a major industrial milestone for Nigeria and Africa.
He added that standing alongside Dangote and Obasanjo offered a powerful reflection on different journeys converging around a shared message: the potential of human determination to transform society.
“Nigeria still has many challenges, but days like this remind us that possibility is alive,” he said.
In a related update, CharlyBoy announced plans for the release of his memoir titled “999”, with its official launch scheduled for July 31 in Lagos. The memoir will feature a foreword by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
