Augustine University, llara-Epe, Lagos State, on Thursday, launched her newly built state – of – the – art radio, TV & Arts and Graphic studios.
At a brief but impressive and colourful ceremony graced by movers and shakers of events in the University, Professor Christopher Odetunde, the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, expressed satisfaction with the 3 – in – 1 studios, namely : Radio, TV & Arts and Graphic.
Odetunde stated that practical experience was very crucial in the training of Mass Communication students and therefore assured that necessary facilities for the training of the students would be provided by the University.
Odetunde further stated that Mass Communication without studios is like farmers going to farm without hoes and cutlasses.
The Vice -Chancellor urged the students to make the best use of the facilities.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the institution, Mrs Margret Aziba, described the studios as a dream come true.
Mrs Aziba stated that AUI is known for the best in everything and therefore stated that the construction of the studios was in line with the vision of the University, especially, in the area of providing quality and sound education.
The Dean of Faculty of Humanities,Managment and Social Sciences (FAHUMSS), Professor Joseph Omoregbe, expressed joy that the studios are in place within a short time.
Professor Omoregbe congratulated the Department of Mass Communication and Media studies on her achievements so far.
The pioneer Head of Department, Dr. Tayo Popoola, expressed gratitude to God and the Managment of the University for providing the studios.
Popoola applauded the various efforts of the University Management in making the Department the best Mass Communication Department in Nigeria.
Other dignitaries at the occasion were Dr. Dan Ogbeide, the institution’s Director of Academic Planning, Rev Fr.Dr.Emmanuel Ogundele,Director of Operations, the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Adesola A.Ajayi amongst others.
