APC Primary: Rep raises alarm, says ‘thugs after my life’

Rep. Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji of Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North Federal Constituency has raised alarm over alleged threat to her life following the APC primary elections in Ogun State.

Ayoola-Elegbeji raised the alarm in a statement on Wednesday in reaction to a viral video of a group of young boys in Sagamu.

The lawmaker said the boys in the video threatened to end her life if she did not leave the town.

Ayoola-Elegbeji described the threat as worrisome, adding that it was contrary to democratic values.

She called on appropriate authorities, especially security agencies and party leaders in the state, to take the matter seriously.

“This video is a threat against me, asking me to leave the town or else I am not safe.

“I have informed the Nigeria Police Force and DSS in my area about the situation,” she said.

Ayoola-Elegbeji said, as a peace-loving person, she had consistently stood for peace, unity, fairness and issue-based politics.

She, therefore, wondered why an election could not be conducted without intimidation, violence or unrest.

The lawmaker said that political ambition should not be pursued at the expense of human lives, safety and the long-standing harmony associated with Remo Federal Constituency.

She said the people of Remo were known for showcasing political maturity and peaceful coexistence.

Ayoola-Elegbeji, therefore, urged party members and stakeholders to take urgent steps to arrest the situation.

She urged her supporters to remain calm, reaffirming confidence in her stewardship to her constituents.

Ayoola-Elegbeji described her stewardship as a symbol of responsible representation and progressive politics focused on growth and development of Remo Federal Constituency since assuming office on Oct 25, 2025, after the bye election.

She pledged her steadfastness at delivering purposeful, people-centered representation for Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North Federal Constituency.

The lawmaker also reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to placing the people’s interests above all, assuring that she would continue building upon the enduring legacy of late Rep. Adewunmi Onanuga.
