Aneke targets silverware in Crewe

chuks_anekeNigeria-born striker, Chuks Aneke, has disclosed that he rejoined Crewe on loan from Arsenal because he believes he can maximise his potential at Gresty Road.

The 20-year-old midfielder proved a hit with the Alex last year, winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy while at the club, and he is now keen to emulate that success after arriving on a six-month deal.

Aneke featured in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Rotherham and told Crewe’s official website: “It is really good to be back and when I knew that Steve (Davis, manager) and Crewe were interested in getting me back, then I was very interested as well.

“I really enjoyed it last year. It was a great experience and it was my first real year in football really.

“To play at Wembley and win a trophy is something I will always remember. I just want to come back and carry on from where I left off.

“There will be no resting on my laurels. I want to get better and improve and I felt I was doing that by playing regular football.

“I just enjoyed the whole experience and everyone in Crewe makes me welcome. The reception I got on Saturday was unbelievable really and I can only thank the fans for that.”
