Ambrose: Spain will crumble against Nigeria

efe_ambroseCeltic FC of Scotland defender, Efe Ambrose, has stated loud and clear that Spain, the current world champions who will battle against the Super Eagles in Sunday’s crucial FIFA Confederations Cup group B match will crumble like a pack of cards.

Ambrose noted that, once the Super Eagles players focus on the desire to win the game, Nigeria will surely get a result from that match.

He stressed that for him and his teammates, the cracker against Spain is a ,ust-win game for Nigeria, and this is not impossible.

“Spain can be beaten, all we need do is play as a team and take our chances and remain united, We have a good chance to beat Spain. We are Africa number one and have no reason to be Afraid of any team. We will give our best.”

Ambrose teammate in the Eagles, John Mikel Obi has also said that Nigeria can hold their own against any team in the world.

The Chelsea FC star is delighted he would be playing against his teammate in Chelsea Fernando Torres.

He said:“We will do our best to salvage the situation.”

The medical team of the Eagles are working very hard to ensure that the likes of injured Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Nnamdi Oduamadi are fully fit for the match against Spain.

Dependable central defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has a deep cut just above his eyes and has been wearing a plaster since after the game.

Omeruo picked up the injury when he attempted a header at goal in one of his adventurous moves to salvage the game for the Eagles.

Musa has a knock in the ankle that almost forced him out of the game but for the fact that the Eagles had made the three allowed changes.

Oduamadi is worst hit as he was forced out of the match with an ankle strain and as at Friday afternoon he was still limping.

Super Eagles will hope to again shock world champions Spain late on Sunday in Fortaleza at the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria shocked the world when they beat highly-rated Spain 3-2 at the 1998 World Cup in Nantes, France with Sunday Oliseh’s fantastic goal from 24 yards beating Zubby Zaretta a deserving winner.

The first meeting between the two teams was at the 1968 Olympics when Spain thrashed Nigeria 3-0.

For the Eagles to progress for the semi finals of the competition they need just a win against Spain, while they pray that Uruguay score less goals against lowly rated Tahiti in today’s game.
