Al-Makura: Plot to postpone election will lead to serious crisis

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, on Wednesday, advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to change the February election timetable.
To him, doing so will lead to a serious crisis in the country.
The governor said any attempt to postpone the election would be resisted by Nigerians desirous of growth and development of the country.
He spoke at the installation of the traditional ruler of Loko chiefdom, Alhaji Abubakar Sabo.
The governor argued that postponing the general election would be undemocratic, counterproductive and a disservice to Nigerians who are anxious of change.
“Nigeria has come a long way and we are now on the path for real meaningful change. It will be unpatriotic and a disservice for anybody to dream of any postponement or jettisoning this election.
“As a people, we are all committed to ensuring that we have a free and fair election. Anybody who has an illusion that the election will be postponed is on his own because the people will resist such an attempt at the appropriate time.
“Let me sound a note of warning to anyone who wants to use either the court or other avenues to go against the peoples will. The people will come out resolutely against that action,” Al-Makura said.
