Super Eagles’ number one goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has said that the Mohamed Salah penalty he saved on Saturday in the third place match is his best moment in the AFCON 2025 tournament.
Nwabali saved Salah’s kick in the shootout and that of another top player, Omar Marmoush, to help Nigeria clinch the bronze medal of the competition.
Though Fisayo Dele-Bashiru failed to convert the first kick, Akor Adams, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman all struck past goalkeeper Moustapha Shoubir to give Nigeria victory.

Nwabali’s heroics earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.
The goalie, however, expressed delight about the first kick he saved taken by the Liverpool star.
“Salah is one of the best players in the world. Before the shootout, I was thinking about it that I would love to stop him and it happened.
“And for us as a team, we are taking something away from the event and it is great.
“My best moment, however, is the Salah save I made. It was a great feeling I will cherish it for a long time,” Nwabali said.
