Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has directed security agencies in the state to fish killers of some residents of Bokkos Local Government Area of the state without further delay.

Lalong gave the directive in a statement by Dr Makut Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor on Wednesday in Jos.

Gunmen attacked Maikatako Community in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state, killed 11 persons and injured many others on Tuesday night.

DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in the state, said that the gunmen stormed the community on Tuesday night and started shooting sporadically.

“Our men are currently going after the assailants; we are on top of the situation, but the details of the attack are still sketchy,” he said.

Lalong, who condemned the incident, said that the killers must be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

”These killings cannot continue, it has to stop; my administration will not allow terrorists and bandits to take foothold in any part of this state.

“I, therefore, direct all security agencies to be firm and hard on any person or groups behind the criminal acts,” Lalong said.

The governor decried the spate of killings and mass destruction of crops on farmlands, livestock and other property in Bokkos and other parts of the state, adding the trend was becoming worrisome and must be checked.

The governor, who sympathised with families who lost their loved ones, called on members of the community to be calm and law abiding.
