The Management of the Nigeria Women’s Football League has requested the Adamawa State Football Association to guarantee the safety of players and officials of teams coming to the state for the second stanza of the league.
In a letter dated May 17 with reference number NWFL/06/Vol.1/51 signed by the League Secretary, Isaac Ajisafe, the Women’s League secretariat said this becomes necessary because of the state of emergency in that part of the country.
“Further to this, we wish to draw your attention to the last nationwide broadcast of President Goodluck Jonathan declaring State of Emergency in three states including Adamawa.
“It is in view of the above declaration that we write to request you to kindly forward to us as a matter of urgency a written confirmation that adequate security will be provided for players and officials of both the home and away teams before, during and after the NWFL matches in Adamawa state.”
The secretary also informed clubs that the second stanza of the League would resume nationwide on Saturday, May 25 with week (10) ten fixtures.
“Further to this and given the decision reached at the last emergency meeting of NWFL Board, all clubs must pay all outstanding fines, levies/administrative fees as well as all mandatory fees before the commencement of the second stanza of the league season to avoid sanctions.
“We advise all clubs to honour their fixtures obligation accordingly as the law for failure to honour matches is still in full force, please” he concluded.
