Wenger desires Champions League title

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, says that he is desperate to win the Champions League before he leaves the club.
The veteran coach has led the Gunners into Europe’s biggest club competition every season he has been in charge, but the north London outfit have only reached the final on one occasion.
And the former Monaco boss is keen to make history and bring European silverware to the Emirates Stadium.

“My drive to win the Champions League is immense,” he told reporters at a press conference before the Gunners’ first group game against Dinamo Zagreb.

“It’s never been done at Arsenal. We have to put hard work in.”

Wenger’s side will start their 18th consecutive Champions League campaign in Zagreb on Wednesday and are strong favourites to beat the Croatian champions.

Arsenal were dealt a huge blow earlier on Tuesday with the news that Jack Wilshere will undergo surgery on his left leg, while Aaron Ramsey and Hector Bellerin have joined the injury list for the north Londoners.

Wenger believes his squad is big enough to cope with the injuries but is predicting a difficult test against Dinamo.

“We have to play at our best to beat them,” Wenger added. “They have not lost a game for 11 months.

“Dinamo Zagreb dominate in Croatian football but we want to focus on our performance. I know I have a squad of experienced players. Every decision I make is difficult, so it’s easier to rotate than it was before.”
