Ukraine Sends Peace Plan Proposals to U.S. Negotiators Amid Russia War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Kyiv has submitted proposals to United States negotiators outlining possible steps toward ending the ongoing war with Russia.

Zelensky made the disclosure during his nightly video address on Wednesday, saying the proposals had already been communicated to the American side.

The Ukrainian leader did not reveal details of the proposed framework but said U.S. representatives were expected to visit both Ukraine and Russia as part of continued diplomatic efforts.

Kyiv Seeks Renewed Peace Discussions

Zelensky said Washington could play a role in supporting Ukraine’s security and strengthening its defence capabilities as diplomatic discussions continue.

The latest peace effort comes as negotiations aimed at ending the conflict remain stalled after years of fighting.

Ukraine has continued to call for a ceasefire and a diplomatic solution, while Russia has maintained that any agreement must address what it describes as the underlying causes of the conflict.

U.S. Officials Expected to Engage Both Sides

According to Zelensky, U.S. negotiators are preparing to hold discussions with both Moscow and Kyiv.

American representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner previously travelled to Moscow in January but have not yet visited Kyiv, according to reports.

The Ukrainian president said continued engagement by the United States could help create conditions for progress toward ending the war.

Russia Maintains Conditions for Settlement

Russia has stated that it remains open to reaching a settlement but insists that any agreement must include several key conditions.

Moscow has demanded Ukraine’s withdrawal from four regions claimed by Russia and says any peace deal must address what it calls the “root causes” of the conflict.

The latest diplomatic developments come as both sides continue to seek international support while efforts to reach a lasting resolution remain uncertain.
