Two banks’ MDs, EDs under watch as agency arrests Alison-Madueke in London, granted bail

Managing Directors and Executive Directors of two leading banks in Nigeria are already in a panic mood as security agents try to unravel their involvement in the allegation of bribery, money laundering and corruption against former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The former minister and one of the pillars of the Goodluck Jonathan administration was arrested by operatives of the National Crime Agency (NCA) in London on Friday.
She was later granted bail by a Magistrates Court and “she will be charged with money laundering soon”, said a security source.
A statement from the British High Commission in Abuja on Friday confirmed that five people, between the ages of 21 and 60, were arrested on suspicion of bribery and corruption offences on Friday morning.
“The crimes are being investigated by the National Crime Agency,” it said, without revealing the identities of those arrested.
Freedom Online learned that the senior bank officials were linked to how “huge money in hard currency” was transferred “to some islands for safe keeping”.
It was learned that evidence was provided by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), which the NCA acted upon to effect her arrest on Friday.
The house of the former minister in Asokoro, Abuja was also ransacked by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) “and vital documents taken away”.
Some security agents are already in London “to provide more evidence and testify against the former minister”, the security source told Freedom Online.
The bank officials “are already pressing buttons to ensure that they are given a soft landing but they were told that if they cooperate with the prosecution, their request will be granted”.
They are also pleading for names of their banks “to be protected during the arraignment of the former minister in London, a request which may be difficult to grant”.
