Flood sacks Oyo communities

From Bode Durojaiye, Oyo.

Properties were destroyed after a heavy downpour in Oyo, Oyo State, on Tuesday, forcing victims to appeal to the state government for help.
The heavy downpour lasted for more than three hours in Oyo township, Awe, Ilora, Akinmoorin, Fiditi and Jobele.
The incident, once again, exposed the poor drainage system in the metropolis.
At Oroki, Unique, Sabo, Isale-Oyo, Agunpopo in Oyo town, as well as Awe, Ilora, Akinmorin and Fiditi, many houses and vehicles were submerged for hours.
Oroki and Obananko bridges were covered by the flood to the extent that drivers could not pass through the road.
At Owode, Isokun and Akesan areas, residents groaned as they were left stranded for hours because commercial vehicles and motor cycle operators (Okada) plying the routes refused for fear of the flood.
Victims were seen thanking God that despite the losses, no life was lost.
