Trump Backs Down on Iran Strike Threat After ‘Productive’ Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump has delayed a planned military response against Iran, extending his earlier ultimatum over the Strait of Hormuz by five days following what he described as “productive” discussions.

Trump made the announcement via his social media platform, Truth Social on Monday, indicating a shift toward continued diplomatic engagement.

The U.S. president had earlier warned that American forces could target Iranian energy facilities if the strategic waterway was not reopened within 48 hours.

In reaction, Iran threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz completely and vowed to retaliate against energy infrastructure in Gulf countries aligned with the United States if attacked.

Trump, however, suggested that recent talks between both sides had yielded positive progress toward easing tensions.

He noted that discussions aimed at resolving hostilities in the Middle East would continue throughout the week.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas shipments, has become a major flashpoint amid the escalating U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran

Recent incidents involving attacks on vessels in the waterway have disrupted maritime activities and raised concerns over global energy supply.

The temporary pause in military action signals a possible opening for diplomacy as tensions remain high in the region.
