Transactions remain upbeat on NSE

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday ended on  positive note for the second consecutive day.

The All-Share Index appreciated by 40.46 basis points or 0.11 per cent to close at 37,408.56 against the 37,368.10 achieved on Tuesday.

Also, the market capitalisation rose  by N13 billion or 0.11 per cent to close at N11.952 trillion compared with the  N11.939 trillion recorded on Tuesday.

Nestle led the gainers’ table, appreciating by N40 to close at N1,050 per share.

Conoil followed with a gain of N4.14 to close at N44.62 per share.

CAP gained N3.97 to close at N42.82, while Forte Oil chalked up N3.67 to close N74.55 per share.

Mobil appreciated by N2 to close at N120 per share.

Nigerian Breweries topped the losers’ chart, shedding N2 to close at N174 per share.

PZ Cussons trailed with a loss of N1.74 to close at N40, while Guinness declined by N1.02 to close at N245 per share.

Unilever shed 62k to close at N60, while NASCON lost 18k to close at N12.11 per share.

NAN reports that the volume of shares traded improved by 16.54 per cent with 358.98 million shares worth N4.16 billion traded in 5,253 deals.

This was against the 308.03 million shares valued at N4.26 billion exchanged in 5,180 on Tuesday.

Transcorp emerged the most traded stock with 56.39 million shares worth N98.97 million traded in 218 deals.

GT Bank followed with 53.42 million shares valued at N1.35 billion traded in 312 deals, while Unity Kapital Assurance exchanged 30.005 million shares worth N15.002 million in nine deals.

Access Bank sold 24.57 million shares worth N254.49 million in 208 deals, while UBA accounted for 22.18 million shares valued at N174.07 million in 314 deals.
