Organisers of The Headies Awards have moved the 18th edition of the Nigerian music awards from October 2026 to April 2027.
The ceremony is now scheduled for April 10–11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada, according to an announcement published on the awards’ official Instagram account, @the_headies.
The event had originally been scheduled for October 23, 2026.
Organisers said the new date would provide additional opportunities for engagement among stakeholders across the music and wider creative industries.
They added that the “Road to The Headies” programme would continue during the period originally earmarked for the main awards ceremony.
The programme is expected to feature workshops, seminars and other industry-focused engagements designed to build anticipation for the 18th edition.
The organisers also apologised to guests who had already made travel arrangements, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the change in schedule.
The Headies is one of Nigeria’s leading music award platforms, recognising achievements across the country’s recording and entertainment industry.
