moshood_abiola_polytechnicThe Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics ( SSANIP) is to re-strategise on its ongoing indefinite strike, an official said on Wednesday.

The National Secretary of (SSANIP), Mr Monday Jegede, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the decision followed the inability of the Federal Government to respond to the union’s demands.

He said that the National Executive Council of the union would meet on June 18 in Abuja to discuss the way forward.

Jegede said that the Federal Government had not responded or called the union for any dialogue since the strike began in April.

“Despite the South-West Zone’s protest in Lagos last week, the union has not been invited to meet or dialogue with the Federal Government.

“SSANIP is still waiting to hear from the Federal Government,” he said.

The scribe said that the union would ensure that its demands were met.

SSANIP is protesting Federal Government’s non- implementation of the Consolidated Tertiary Institution Salary Structure (CONTISS 15).

The union is also calling for an end to alleged discrimination against Higher National Diploma holders.

The union embarked on a protest rally on June 4 in Lagos to press home the demands.

The strike has crippled activities in some polytechnics in the country.
