Strike: Chief Judge orders re-opening of courts in Nasarawa

The Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Suleiman Dikko, has ordered the re-opening of all courts shut by Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) as its industrial strike entered 59th day.
Justice Dikko gave the directive on Wednesday when he paid an unscheduled visit to courts in Lafia and Akwanga Local Government Areas, where he discovered that the courts were under lock and key.
He said Judges of all courts must ensure that all courts were reopened and proceedings commenced in full.
“Any Judicial staff in the state that refused to report to his duty post will not be paid.
“As far as we are concerned, there is no strike and anyone who fails to come to work would be sanctioned,” the chief judge added.
The union embarked on an indefinite strike since November 13, 2018 to demand for better welfare for members.
The Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission on November 26, 2018 dismissed 20 officials of the union for their roles in the ongoing strike.
