A Moscow court has sentenced a 59-year-old Russian citizen to 13 years in prison for attempting to smuggle aircraft spare parts to Ukraine.
The Russian Federal Security Service, FSB, announced the sentence in a statement on Friday.
According to the security agency, the man obtained aviation bearings in Russia and attempted to move them out of the country.
The FSB said the components were used in Mi combat helicopters, as well as Su and MiG military aircraft.
The agency alleged that the suspect intended to deliver the parts to an enterprise involved in maintaining military aircraft and helicopters for Ukrainian forces.
Russian authorities described the case as part of a wider pattern of recently disrupted Ukrainian-linked activities against Russia.
The FSB also said it had earlier foiled large-scale Ukrainian drone attacks targeting the Ukrainka, Shagol and Rostov-Central military airfields.
The sentencing comes amid continuing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides placing increased focus on military logistics, aviation equipment and security operations.
