A rescued kidnap victim has safely delivered twin girls at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

The development was confirmed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, who stated that both the mother and her newborn babies are in stable condition.

Mother and Babies in Stable Condition

According to Fanwo, the woman’s identity is being withheld for security reasons. He assured the public that medical personnel are closely monitoring both mother and children.

Governor Ahmed Ododo has directed that the mother and her twins be moved to the State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja for comprehensive medical treatment and postnatal care.

Kogi IDP Camp for Rescued Kidnap Victims

The Kogi IDP camp was established by the state government as a temporary rehabilitation and support centre for victims rescued from kidnappers. Officials say the number of occupants at the facility has increased following intensified security operations across the state.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation, and reintegration of rescued victims. It also commended security agencies for their sustained efforts in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in Kogi State and beyond.

Security Efforts Yield Results

Recent security crackdowns have led to the rescue of several abducted victims, contributing to the growing population at the IDP rehabilitation centre. Authorities maintain that coordinated security operations will continue to ensure safety and stability across the region.
